Two of a Kind.
I was clicking through vintage Vogue covers and this Spring 1988 Paris Vogue cover with Linda Evangelista caught my eye (this was before celebrities owned fashion editorial magazine covers, and the super model trumped them all). I was eying the dress that she was wearing and thinking how rockin the boat-neck and heavy shoulder pad are on this pink dress, when I realized that one of my favorite dresses has similar design queues, plus a little 80’s graphic flare.
The dress on the right is my own treasure from a great hunt. I love the boat neck detail and the perfect 80’s shoulder pads and puff sleeves (a great trick if you’ve been missing your strength training classes!). Little did I know I was paying homage directly to Linda and her April 1988 Paris Vogue cover shot.
