Summer Parties
All the gorgeous party planning and baking credit above goes to my friend Jes (aka Martha Stewart). What a lovely day! Snow cones, empanadas and sweets. Lots of sweets!

I’ve been leaning towards the more girly pieces recently. I’m loving the sheer, lacy, soft tones of these feminine pieces that i stumbled upon this week. Each one of these pieces will make you feel like a girly girl for the remainder of the summer. I was so bummed to find this bubbly purse sold! Happy for the lucky new owner, what a great accessory!

Agreed..Unfortunately, with this shot its difficult not to buy into the sexiness of smoking. Look at those eyelashes!
Flea DTLA
Vintage shopping in the historic core is a new experience for me, and..I like. How can Flea have been open for a whole year without me getting in there?
Get yourself a vegan cupcake at Babycakes NYC and stroll over to Flea to check out some vintage women’s apparel and other flea market finds. Flea is a cozy little space packed with a nice curated selection of vintage and re-sale goods. Don’t go looking for rock-bottom flea market prices but go to find something reasonably priced and unique and support a local downtown LA business while you’re at it!
Look for a great selection of western boots, vintage shoes (large sizes included!) and accessories at the back of the shop. On your way back, you’ll pass a few racks of women’s tops, skirts and dresses. At the register is a case full of vintage jewelry, cuff links, perfume bottles and cigarette/card cases with a backdrop of the vintage hat wall. You may even find a Louis V. trunk! (not quite as big as the “trunk of my dreams“, but still fun to see.)
I walked away smiling with my own finds – this tan purse, vintage bead/gold belt and this lovely antique glass cake stand. (I’ve been looked for one like this since I saw Poketo‘s little cake stand in their loft last year.)

Never have I wanted to be a size 10.5 in shoes until now! This outfit was built around the shoe, that I would like very much to see in my closet.
I also am loving the beading on the blouse. What’s cut out on the shoes can be added back on to the top! I swear my mom used to where tops like this in the 80′s. She may even still have a few I should try to dig up. I love the super sheer sleeve and the cascading V-embellishment design in front and back. Bravo! Well paired with neutral pair of black shorts, maybe take these up an inch. Ah..TGIF.

How-To Daisy Chain
I love Seablanket’s DIY Daisy Chain tutorial. How fun would this be for a shower or shoot. I’m seeing floral accessories in my future!

Taxi CDC Polo Mini
Like most LA & SF girls who are into vintage fashion, I’m a fan of Taxi CDC‘s reconstructed vintage. I was introduced to Taxi CDC 2 years ago at the Unique LA show and have been a devout fan ever since. The simple modern vintage patterns have a very forgiving fit while maintaining a unique vintage look.
Taxi CDC’s first store is here in Echo Park off Sunset Blvd. at Alvarado. When I’m lucky enough to pass by when its open, I must stop in. Last week I dropped in saw this great reconstructed polo shirt/mini dress design. I had to share.
Who knew adding an elastic waistline and cap sleeve detail could make dad’s polo so cute?!
Taxi CDC: 2146 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Hours: Fri-Sat 12 pm – 7 pm (keep an eye out for the street sales!)
Collective is Taxi CDC’s new SF shop, which is a must visit. Check out the post from my visit a couple months ago.
Hypervintage Finds
I found this great vintage black dress on eBay for $0.99 back in March and finally got it to my tailor!
It’s such a rewarding feeling to participate in the creation of a great dress, as a non-designer. I thrrew a splash of modern on it by taking out some fullness in the skirt and about 20 inches off the bottom.
The shoes were another find on my lunch hour in Santa Monica. 80′s Italian leather slingbacks for $14.99. A bargain outfit, indeed!
